The fourth annual Mud/Dirt Rage hosted by No Mucking Around Inc. will be rocking and rolling in Amaranth this weekend, with prizes and cash to be won for those participating.

According to organizer Marlon Beaulieu, the event starts today and will conclude on Sunday.

Beaulieu says that people come from as far as Alberta and Saskatchewan and explains that while the event kicks off on Friday with live music from the Mousseau Bro's Band and Burnouts, the racing won't begin until Saturday and Sunday.

"Trucks on Saturday, ATV's on Sunday, and if all goes well, we should have a few fast track vehicles for both days, Saturday and Sunday."

Beaulieu talks about what makes this event special for those competing.

"When I was a competitor, I liked to have trophies. So, I've travelled far and wide and won many events, but I have nothing to show for it besides a cheque and a few dollars. That being said, we have trophies for all our classes and guaranteed payouts for all the classes."

The event organizer says that admission for spectators will be $10 each and that Friday the band will start around 5 p.m. From there, Saturday and Sunday will start at 1 p.m., with events finishing up by 5 p.m.

Beaulieu notes that all proceeds that the group acquires from this will be used for recreational opportunities for kids from Sandy Bay First Nation.

He talks about how it personally feels to help First Nations youth.

"Oh, it's great. It's wonderful. I always want to do something positive for the kids," continues Beaulieu. "A lot of us come from poverty and myself being one of them. It's great to show these types of things and that we can get out and be successful."

Beaulieu shares that last year's installment of the event saw a 3-year-old take part in an ATV class which was the highlight of the whole weekend for him.

"It was wonderful to see. The fans loved it. Everybody loved it."

The Mud/Dirt Rage can be found just half a mile down road 261 in Amaranth this weekend.
