Four runs in the sixth inning helped the Portage Padres pick up their first home win of the Santa Clara Baseball League season.

The Padres defeated the Carberry Royals 9-6 in a game where they trailed 6-5 at the top of the sixth. Second baseman Tanner Boyle says it's always satisfying to complete a comeback.

"It feels good. The boys battled hard. We were down early but battled our way back."

The Padres have scored 24 runs in just two games so far this season. Boyle believes they're a team that can score in bunches.

"Yeah, we have a lot of good hitters in this lineup. We can string together hits well."

Boyle says this was his first game of the season and notes he's been waiting a long time to get back on the diamond. He adds the whole team is happy baseball season is back.

The Padres will look to remain undefeated on Wednesday when they welcome the Neepawa Cubs to town.
