Portage Collegiate will be hanging up another banner in the gymnasium.

PCI's Team Olafson went undefeated in The Pas over the weekend to become Provincial Boys Curling Champions. The girls banner went to Carman Collegiate. PCI Skip Colton Olafson says he was overwhelmed with joy when he realized they had done it.

"This feels so wonderful. We worked so hard to get to this point, and I'm really happy all that hard work paid off."

Team Olafson went 5-0 at the tournament but was tested, especially in the final match.

"(Dauphin) got four on us in the first, and we got pretty down on ourselves," Olafson explains. "We just kept at it and came back with five right after in the next end. That was pretty incredible."

The PCI team ultimately won the final game 12-7 and finished the tournament with a +24 point differential. Olafson says their goal as a team was to make it to provincials but notes they couldn't have foreseen this.

"This was an amazing experience. The highlight of our year would probably be this game," Olafson continues. "This just summed up our year so well."

The skip says they now have some time off with the season coming to a close, however, he adds they will be continuing to train as they plan on being even better next season.

"I think our goal would be to get back to this place to win some more games and just have a really strong season."

Olafson says he's thankful for the amazing group of teammates he has in Nolan Ross, Tristan Blight, and Hunter Jefferies.
