It's been a good weekend for the Portage ''AAA'' Phillies.

Success seems to be in the cards this long weekend for the Portage "AAA" Phillies.

The team that is made up of all-star players from Portage, Oakville and MacGregor has a perfect record so far at 4-0, in Winnipeg at provincials.

Their most recent triumph was yesterday, over Brandon setting the stage for this morning's semi-final contest versus Pembina Hills.

Phillies coach, Scott Dewis, says all cylinders, from pitching to defence to hitting, are firing, in fact he notes the team effort is surpassing expectations. He adds the Portage hurlers are executing extremely well and feels they have a lot more left in the tank.

As for today's game, Dewis says based on a past experience in which Portage defeated Pembina Hills by one run, he likes their chances of winning and moving on to the finals to be held this afternoon.

Should the Phillies win this morning they will be guaranteed a spot in the Western Canadian Championships and if they take the provincial competition, Portage will be off to nationals in B.C.
