Health officials say they are unable to sustain the 24-hour emergency services at Carman Memorial Hospital.

Because of a temporary physician shortage in the community, the Emergency Department will operate at reduced hours effective November 1, 2020 through to April 30, 2021.

Until further notice, the emergency department will be open daily (seven days a week) from 8:00 a.m until 8:00 p.m, closed daily from 8:00 p.m to 8:00 a.m.

In the meantime, officials say recruiting is ongoing and the situation will be re-evaluated in April, 2021.
