Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of someone being threatened with a weapon last week in the 2400 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West.
Officers arrived on the scene in the afternoon of June 1st, but the suspects had already left the area.
After a short search, officers located the suspects behind some buildings in the 2500 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West.
The suspects began to run but were arrested after a very brief chase.
A 14-year-old youth from Brandon and a 17-year-old youth from Portage la Prairie were placed under arrest without incident.
The 17-year-old faces charges of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose as well as Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
The 14-year-old faces charges of Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and two counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order. He was held in custody to appear in court the following day.
