An award was presented to the City of Portage la Prairie from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba.

Braden Municipal Engineering Services municipal engineering consultant Kelly Braden and City director of operations Jocelyn Lequier-Jobin received the award in Winnipeg. Lequier-Jobin explains what it was that won the city this award.

"Our causeway project was nominated for an award," says Lequier-Jobin. "Together with the consulting engineer, which was AECOM Canada, we accepted the Award of Excellence in Transportation Engineering."

She explains, first, the consulting engineering company put together an application for the award.

"Then it gets reviewed by a panel of engineering experts and they decide what awards are given out," continues Lequier-Jobin. "It feels pretty great. It was one of the first projects I worked on when I started at the city seven years ago. So, it was a long-time in coming and it feels pretty great to see it done and see it looking so fantastic. We're actually getting accolades for it."

Lequier-Jobin adds she thanks all the companies that worked on the causeway for doing a great job and the staff at the city, as well, who helped with the project.
