The province's Mental Health and Addictions Strategy has undergone an expansion.

Healthy living minister Theresa Oswald announced an additional nine million dollars of funding for the program.

She explains it'll go towards a broad array of services including improving access to supports, increasing community-based services, increasing treatment beds, and the stabilization unit.

Oswald says Portage can also benefit from the services, adding the transportation costs to Winnipeg's stabilization unit will be covered by the province.

She believes the funding is necessary to ensure the well-being of Manitobans.
