Portage la Prairie RCMP dealt with two separate incidents at the same business in the 100 block of Saskatchewan Avenue East.

The first incident took place on January 19th around 4:24 p.m. when the suspect made off with some items before officers arrived. Police found the suspect in a vehicle on Saskatchewan Avenue West near Canoat Road in Portage. The 39-year-old Long Plain First Nation man was arrested without incident and faces charges of Assault and Theft Under $5000.00. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

In a second incident, officers were called to the same business on January 22nd around 9:28 p.m. In this case, it was considered to be a robbery. Officers found 32-year-old Thad Richard of Portage nearby. He was charged with Robbery and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. He was held in custody and appeared in court on the 23rd. Nobody was hurt in the robbery.
