The Portage la Prairie RCMP has released their second tip for crime prevention and it involves making your doors more secure.
Inspector Paul Peddle says one simple lock on the doorknob is not enough.
"A secondary door lock is very important. We see, a lot of the time, when we go to a break and enter, or a property crime in the city, or the outlying communities, we see that the door is often kicked in," says Peddle. "It can be prevented if we put a secondary lock, like a deadbolt. It'll help definitely help deter that. So, we always encourage to have a secondary lock on your doors."
The RCMP is in the midst of a campaign to help reduce crimes in the city. Tomorrow morning's tip will be about keeping people off of your property.
