The Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to offer tips this week to help prevent crime, and this tip continues with the 'lock' theme.

Inspector Paul Peddle says people often forget to lock their windows.

"We see a lot of the times in the summer time when the weather is nice, people go away and they leave their windows open to let the cool air in."

He says you do not want to make it easy for a potential criminal.

"You got to remember that that provides an opportunity for a criminal to get onto your property. Same thing with the doors. We always recommend that you keep your doors locked on your properties and your sheds and your outlying buildings if you're going to be away for any period of time."

Tomorrow, the RCMP will focus on technology when it comes to crime prevention.
