Grade 11 student Abby Reichert has won another weekly award but this time for her weekend with the Central Plains Capitals.

The goaltender plays with both the Portage Collegiate Saints and U18 AAA female Central Plains Capitals, and received the Player of the Week award last week for her performance with PCI.

Now, the Capitals' rookie has been named the Goalie of the Week in the Manitoba U18 AAA Female Hockey League. Reichert has typically been the backup goaltender for the Caps this season but started back-to-back contests and impressed many during those six periods.

Reichert had a shutout for 56 minutes against the Pembina Valley Hawks on Saturday, and while she let two goals in late, her team gave her all the credit for keeping them in the game as they ultimately lost 2-0.

On Sunday, Central Plains got back in the win column as they defeated the Interlake Lightning 4-3 in overtime.

In the two games combined, Reichert stopped 81 of the 86 shots she faced and ended the weekend with a 0.942 save percentage. Sunday's victory was the Portager's first win in the MFHL.
