The Portage School Division's May enrollment report shows a significant decrease from the year before.

But the one-hundred-and-two student drop doesn't surprise the superintendent Larry Taylor -- he's noticed a consistent decreasing trend from the monthly reports.

The drop comes in a time when mobility rates within the division are stabilizing and that's why he believes students are leaving the Portage School Division permanently.

Based on the trend Taylor expects to see decreases next school year as well.  To him it justifies the school board's decision to amalgamate.
