Since September of last year, the Salvation Army and Portage's Foodbank have been giving select families a chance to cook meals to bring home for future needs.

Right now, three families have been chosen to participate, and as Major Brenda Hammond explains, this program is helping out those in need.

"They are having a lot of fun, meeting new people, and learning from one another. So, the training participants can cook month after month. They can stay in the group for as long as they want."

She carries on to note how enjoyable this is for families.

"They absolutely love it. They love the program, and they love the food. They love the fellowship. It's a nice way to meet like-minded people."

Hammond says that the Salvation Army would love to hear from anyone willing to volunteer their time to help this program expand into three or four groups instead of just one.
