Last fall's election on Sandy Bay First Nation has been overturned by an Order in Council.

There were allegations of vote buying, and the matter was turned over to Indian Affairs and Northern Development.

According to a document on the Office of the Privy Council website, Minister Jim Prentice has concluded the findings of an investigation constitute a corrupt practice.
The result is the election of Chief Irvin McIvor, and Councillors Dennis McIvor, Herman Richard, Edward Starr, and Angus Starr has been set aside.

There's no word yet when another election will be held.
Chief Irvin McIvor was meeting with his lawyers today.
