Stonewall will soon see some new pedestrian crosswalk signs.

They'll be replacing the older, sometimes hard to see sign, with brand new solar ones.

Mayor Lockie Mclean explains the benefits of switching over.

"We're told the yielding rates of traffic when they approach a crosswalk increase upward of  96 percent," says Mclean. "That's from much much less without this type of solar panel, that will show people that it's a crosswalk. So new ground for Stonewall."

McLean points out these lights have much better visibility than the old standard crosswalk signs, especially at night, and will greatly improve safety for pedestrians.
