There was a significant light show last night, as a storm system moved through the Portage area.

Environment Canada's Mark Melsness has checked the numbers, and tells us 10.8 mm fell in the Portage area, with Winnipeg getting about the same.

More rain fell to the west and south -- the most reported was in Gretna, at 32.6 mm.
A weather system moved in from Saskatchewan last night, covering areas south of the Trans Canada Highway.

Melsness says there were plenty of reports of thunder and lightning, as well as high winds -- Shoal Lake had a gust of 104 kilometres per hour around 9 o'clock.

He adds there's a chance of thunderstorms again today for Portage, but the risk is greater to the east of us.
