Portage la Prairie RCMP are looking for your help after a local woman had her wallet stolen and had thousands of dollars charged in her name.

Police say they received a report on January 17th, that an incident took place in a parking lot of a business in the 2300 block of Sissons Drive. A woman says she had finished shopping and had put her items in her vehicle, when a man approached her and struck up a conversation. The suspect pretended to slip and fall on the shopping cart where the woman had her wallet. By the time she noticed it was missing, more than $4,000 in charges had been racked up. RCMP are reminding you to take safeguards to protect your wallets and purses.
