The Portage Terriers are continuing to fine-tune their roster ahead of the 2022-23 MJHL season. The Terriers have sent 20-year-old forward Mason Smith to the Dauphin Kings in exchange for future considerations.

This is the third trade the Terriers have made this offseason in which they have sent out a 20-year-old, also shipping goalie Chris Fines to the Niverville Nighthawks and trading defenceman Brady Grasdal to the Nipawin Hawks of the SJHL.

The Dogs are freeing up space to bring in more 20-year-old players in the future as the MJHL allows teams to have a maximum of eight players in their final season of eligibility on one roster.

The Portage Terriers will begin their preseason in less than two weeks, with the opener taking place on September 6 as they welcome the Virden Oil Capitals to Stride Place.
