The Portage Terriers were set to take on the MJHL's best team tonight but that game has been cancelled. The Steinbach Pistons will not be coming to Stride Place tonight due to the harsh weather conditions. The game will be postponed to a later date.

Original Story

The Portage Terriers are looking to snap their two-game losing streak tonight.

The Dogs are coming off consecutive losses in which they gave up a total of 14 goals in two games. Five of the Terriers' eight losses this season have come in the last 11 games, and after falling to the Winkler Flyers on Friday, Portage is now third in their conference.

Luckily for the Terriers, they are only two points back of the Flyers for second and just six points back of the Steinbach Pistons for the best record in the MJHL. Portage will have a chance to make up that ground tonight as they welcome the Pistons to the dog pound.

Three of the next five games for the Terriers will come against Steinbach, which will be a great test to see if they have the championship-level roster they need to compete when they host the 2023 Centennial Cup Tournament.

These two teams have split their first two outings this season, with the Pistons taking a 6-1 win and Portage picking up the victory in the second game 2-1.

Slade Stanick and Kian Calder are both on four-game point streaks for Portage and will look to keep those alive tonight.

Tonight will be a battle between the two best special teams units in the MJHL. The Pistons place first in power-play and penalty-kill percentage, while the Terriers are right on their heels in both categories.

One player Portage will have to watch out for is Dawson Milliken, who is currently on a ten-game point streak and has put up 17 points in 11 games since returning from injury.

The Terriers and Pistons will faceoff tonight at Stride Place, with puck drop set for 7:30.
