Earlier this week, shots were fired at a residence on 3rd Street NE in Portage. RCMP responded to calls at the site on January 9, at about 12:30 p.m.

The shots were reported to have been fired at the location from a vehicle. The residence was hit with bullets and several people were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Nobody was physically injured.

Police investigated another residence on the same street and arrested two men and one woman without incident. Officers realized the suspects were also involved in an assault earlier that day on a woman.

A search warrant was executed on the suspects’ residence and the vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting. Several firearms and airsoft weapons were located.

Sean Baker, 35, from Portage, is charged with:

  • Assault causing Bodily Harm,
  • Assault while Choking,
  • Assault with a Weapon,
  • Uttering Threats,
  • Possession of a Firearm when Knowing Possession Unauthorized,
  • Careless Use of a Firearm,
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm,
  • Weapons Possession Contrary to an Order,
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

Baker was remanded into custody.

Justin Kilcollins, 31, from Portage, is charged with:

  • Assault, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

Kilcollins was remanded in custody.

A 23-year-old woman from Portage faces charges of:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm,
  • Assault with a Weapon,
  • Mischief Under $5000.00.

This suspect was released to appear in court on March 14th.

The victim of the assault sustained minor physical injuries.
