As of 8:40 a.m., all highways in the area have reopened.

--------------------------------------------------------

The gusty wind that hit the area yesterday has resulted in icy highway conditions in some parts of the province. For commuters that go to Winnipeg each day, things may be delayed with the highway closed at Elie.

As of 8:00 a.m., these highways remained closed in the province:

Highway 1, from Elie to Winnipeg, both directions.

Highway 100, from Highway 1 East to Highway 1 West (perimeter highway)

Highway 101, from Highway 1 West to Highway 1 East (perimeter highway)

Highway 1, from Hwy 100 Perimeter to St. Anne, both directions.

RCMP reminds the public that a closed highway means travel is not allowed for any reason. There is a potential for charges under the Highway Traffic Act for a fine of $203. Also, emergency vehicles may not be able to reach you if help is needed.
