The Estevan Bruins will be the most rested team at the Western Canada Cup due to the fact that they have been off since March 27th. They were eliminated in the quarter finals by the Nipawin Hawks 4-2. It was a close series with the Hawks outscoring the Bruins 16-15.

Estevan finished second in their division but 5th overall in the league with a record of 35-20-3. They had a positive goal differential of +28.

Key players to watch.

Darcy DeRoose: The 20 year old left wing lead his team in scoring with 76 points in 53 games. He isn't afraid to mix it up, as evidenced by his 111 penalty minutes. He had 3 points for them in 6 playoff games.

Brady Oleksyn: He stepped up in a big way in the playoffs contributing 3 goals and 5 assists in 3 games.

Daniel Wapple: The 20 year old goalie from Saskatoon split starts during the season with Nathan Alalouf, but was the man in net during the playoffs. In his first season in Estevan he posted a 2.51 GAA and a .912 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Bruins have no players who are from Manitoba. Last season the Terriers acquired David Robertson from the Estevan Bruins for future considerations, which turned out to be Dane Schioler. The Terriers traded Robertson to Steinbach for Carson Perreaux, and Dane Schioler decided to not play for the Estevan Bruins, and played 8 games this season for Prince Albert of the WHL.

The Bruins have no players committed to NCAA Division 1 schools.

Estevan has struggled over the years, failing to make it out of the Quarter finals since 2005. They last won the SJHL title in 1999. They went on to win the Anavet Cup that season as well.

The Terriers play the Bruins on Sunday at 8pm Manitoba time.
