Schools across the Province have closed on Friday due to COVID-19, and private schools are no exception.

Lydia Stoesz is the Westpark Principal. She outlines what precautions they are taking.

"We are a funded interdependent school, which means that we fall under Manitoba Education and so we follow the directives given by them. Our last day of classes will be on Friday, and then we will move to a home study. Both online and physical packets will be available to the parents."

Teachers will be in contact with the parents via phone or email during the break. Students will also have access to Google Classrooms to keep track of their schoolwork.

Here's what will happen to the teachers during this time.

"I just received information from Manitoba Education that teachers are allowed to be working from home if they're able. We're looking into exactly what that will look like as far as a schedule, and we want to keep teachers as safe as possible. If they are happy to work at home and they're able to do that, that would be our preference as well."

Stoesz says one of their other programs will be affected as well.

"We also have a nursery school, so are parents are not sending their kids there, but it's on suspension as well while the school is out," says Stoesz. "It's going to be very different, we're hoping to do whatever we can to help with the directive from the government, Manitoba Health and Manitoba Education. Hopefully, we're able to still do a really good job of supporting parents during this time of trying to teach their kids and support them in their learning."
