Despite the pandemic, although Whoop and Hollar had to makes some postponements, the Open Mic and Jam Nights at the Legion in Portage la Prairie will be held at a later date.

"These events, our final two of the season, held in March and April, fell kind of within the projected peak of the COVID-19 curve," says artistic director Josh Wright. "And part of our mandate at Whoop and Hollar is to keep our performers and audience safe during these times, which led us to make the decision to postpone the performances to the fall when we start up again in October."

Wright says that March 27th and April 24th were the last two of the season. He explains host performers Ron Nordstrom and Monika Wall willingly agreed to move their performances to October 30th and November 27th.

"The Festival is going on as planned currently for the weekend of August 29," adds Wright. "That is a date quite late into the summer, which by that time, we hope the COVID-19 pandemic will have settled down or will be taking a break. But in the meantime, we're going to be keeping an eye on the situation and monitoring that and seeing if we need to make any adjustments to our schedule."

Wright encourages people to keep on jamming, take care of yourself and others, and always try to play, write and listen from the comfort of your home. He says they may be using live streams in the meantime.
