William Joseph Higgins of Portage la Prairie, beloved husband of Evelyn Higgins, passed away at Portage District General Hospital on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the age of 86 years.

William was predeceased by his parents Irene and Milford Higgins; first wife Eva; infant daughter; son Paul; brothers Fred, John and Ted; sister Nora Mannion; brother-in-law Joe Mannion; sisters-in-law Helen, Hazel, and Shirley; step-son Blaine Sokolosky. William is survived by his beloved wife Evelyn; step children Lynn and Larry Warantz, Danny and Linda Sokolosky, Laurie Smith, Allan and Shirley Sokolosky, Terry and Ingrid Sokolosky, Leanne and Leonard Revet; children Rosanna Hersak, Penny McLeod, Stephan Higgins and Mary Higgins; sister Irene Jayce and Pintie Tauvainen; brother Thomas; sister-in-law Doris Higgins; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; special friends Alex and Carol Fraser, Eila and Norm Sigurdson and Lois Burke.

Visitation and viewing will take place at McKenzie's Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held at McKenzie's Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
