The province has set up a new Manitoba Water Council.

It's mandate is to advise the Water Stewardship Minister on water-related issues.

One of the Council members is Ian Wishart, who farms north of Portage. He's also vice president of Keystone Agricultural Producers, and thinks it's appropriate KAP is represented, because agriculture needs some direct input.

Wishart admits the Council's mandate is vague, but believes it involves coordination of Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba recommendations. He thinks they'll also deal with the nutrient management process.

Wishart adds KAP believes the Water Council is a key group in coordination of policies that are fair to all sectors.
