The PCI Trojans booked a spot in next week's Currie/Vidruk final with a 35-14 win over the Elmwood Giants.

It was the Winnipeg High School Football League's 'Fog Bowl' last night, as a thick fog descended on Investors Group Field for the second half of the contest. The Trojans scored with 6 seconds to go in the first half giving them a 7 point lead, and they never looked back. "I'm super pumped," admits Trojans' running back Tyler Fedak. "Another game with all our vets, I don't want to lose them. The final is going to be exciting. I think we've definitely improved, and I think we can take it to Dryden (in the final) if we put it all in."

Fedak celebrates a touchdown in the 3rd quarter before the fog arrived.

Things looked a little scary when the Giants scored to climb back within 2 touchdowns, but a huge PCI interception put the game back out of reach in the final quarter. Trojans' Head Coach Brent Irwin says their play to end the second quarter showed the boys are playing to win.

"The guys could've just played out the half but they just never gave up. They pounded the opposition and we had a good result."

Irwin says they've had a lot of success in IGF this year, and he's looking forward to coming back for the final.

"It feels really good, and it good to get back to the final. This will be our 3rd trip to the stadium this year with the final next week, and guys are starting to look pretty comfortable here."

It's been 8 years since PCI's made it to the WHSFL final, and they don't plan to spoil the opportunity. "It's amazing," says Trojans' Avery Spence. "We haven't been in this in so long, and it really feels great. We're ready for what's next."

PCI will meet Dryden in the final, the only team they've lost to all season.

"They're a good team, but we're a good team too," says Irwin. "It's going to be who's best prepared, who's going to make the least mistakes, and who will execute, but we're up for the challenge."

The Currie/Vidruk Final is Wednesday at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg.
