The Central Plains Female Bantam Capitals earned a medal over the weekend. They won silver at the Female AAA Bantam Rural Provincials in Garson over the weekend.

The Caps looked strong throughout the tournament but clearly ran out of gas in the championship match. They fell 7-0 to Eastman to snag second place.

"Eastman was a powerhouse this season," says head coach Grady Stephenson. "They came out firing on all cylinders and our girls were a little overwhelmed by it. We've had some close games leading up to that but they really wanted it and played really well. We played four games over the weekend and the championship final was our second game of the day."

Grady says the girls should be very proud of their achievement.

"This is a huge accomplishment for the team," adds Stephenson. "They came a long way this year and really went to work every game. Every single one of them had drastic improvements all year. They deserved to be in the game, and really deserved that silver medal."

Eight players will be moving on to the female midget Caps next season, and Stephenson's looking at his remaining 2003's to step up and lead the team.
