The Central Plains Capitals were eliminated from the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League Playoffs Saturday evening in Shoal Lake. The Caps made the trip for the final game of their series with Yellowhead, and fell 3-2 in overtime.

The Caps were down 2-0 heading into the 3rd period, and were able to net two in the final frame to send it to overtime. Caps' defenseman Lane Taylor scored first on the powerplay, Drew Anderson had the tying goal with under a minute to play.

The Caps and Chiefs went back-and-forth in the overtime period, but on a broken 3-on-3, the Chiefs were able to seal it 7 minutes into extra time.

Caps' Head Coach Ken Brooks wasn't with the club long, but had nothing but good things to say about the boys.

"They were a really good group of kids. They always battled, they were known to be a team that worked hard, and whenever we were down they were always battling to get back in."

This was the Caps' best finish since the 2005-06 season, when the Caps won two playoff rounds. Stay tuned for a full Season Wrap coming up later in the week.
