The Central Plains Capitals are 3-1 in their last four Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League games.

The Caps went 2-0 this weekend, knocking off Norman 10-2 Friday night at the BDO Centre, and Interlake 3-1 Saturday in Tuelon. Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko says they really needed to turn things around after 4 straight losses.

"The league is so tight that to stay in the mix you have to keep winning, but for us, the rewarding part is just the way the kids have come together. We've been really trying to focus on tightening things up, and in the last couple of games we've been fantastic in that regard."

Gnidziejko says they're really working on defending a lead to get away from those run-and-gun games.

"It's what you do without the puck that's important. It's defending, and supporting and those types of things. It's not always the best bet to play fire-wagon hockey. So for us to get success in the playoffs, we're going to have to learn how to play tight and good defensive hockey when the time calls for it."

Central Plains' Manitoba AAA Midget season continues Friday when they host Yellowhead at the BDO Centre.

In the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, the Central Plains Capitals are in a bit of a skid. They fell 3-1 to Westman, and it's been over 2 weeks since their last win. One thing Central Plains does have going is the 4 games in hand they have on most of their opponents.

They're back in action Saturday against Yellowhead at the BDO Centre.
