The Central Plains FC (CPFC) are on the pitch today in Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 3 action.

CPFC, formerly Portage United, is set to host Winnipeg FC this afternoon at Rotary Republic Park. CPFC lost their first game of the year 6-2 to Rovers FC last weekend, and player Tyson Guenther says it was a tough season opener.

"They we're very good tactically, and they definitely used that against us. Their experience definitely shined through, but I think overall there were a lot of positives we can take away from that game and stuff to build on."

Guenther says they did a good job breaking down the field, and they need more of that today.

"We moved the ball fairly well. We got it up the field quickly, and effectively. We took advantage of the opportunities we did have, we potted two there, and moving forward it's going to look like a good season."

Central Plains FC and Winnipeg FC go at 1 p.m. at Rotary Republic Park.
