The Portage Cobras are one of the only remaining undefeated teams in the Manitoba Major Soccer League's 6th Division. They picked up a 4-1 victory over Superbia FC at Rotary Republic Park.

The Cobras seemed to be in control right from the start of the game, and once Superbia ran into some penalty trouble, it seemed to be a one-sided match. Nick Plourde scored the final goal for the Cobras late in the second half and says the team is really gelling on the field.

"We're starting to really come together as a team and really jive out there. We know where the person is going to be before they get there, so we're looking a lot better, it almost looks like we've done it before," laughs Plourde. "They ran into some penalty trouble toward the end too but I feel we closed it out well before that."

Charles Schellenberg, Ian McIvor and Kieran Derksen also scored for the Cobras in the victory.

"Confidence is high right now," adds Plourde. "It's always nice to win, but it's hard to appreciate a win when you've never lost, so losing is never really that bad. Hopefully, we keep going and if we can go undefeated that would be great."

The Cobras are now off until June 11th when they visit the Hanover Cobras in Steinbach.
