The Portage Cobras were 3-1 winners over Saint James Spurs in Manitoba Major Soccer League action Thursday night in Portage la Prairie. They're still undefeated at 4-0-1 in Division 6 and sit in first place with the win.

Cobras' Daylen Green, Charles Schellenberg, and Connor Derksen all scored in the victory. The Cobras came out a little slow but found their form late in the first half. The Spurs came out hard in the second half but the Cobras' defenders tightened up to hold Saint James to just one goal.

"We held on, we scrambled, but it looked good I guess," laughs Cobras' defender Chad Green. "They started pressing a lot more in the second, they were pressing three guys up and they're a skilled team, so we'll know for next time what to expect."

Green says the season is definitely going well this year. They club ran into a little bit of a line-up problem but Green says they've filled the holes and the new teammates are fitting in nicely.

The Cobras are off for a little while now. Their next game is July 9th against Grunthal at Rotary Republic Park.
