The Portage Cobras bounced back from suffering their first loss of the Manitoba Major Soccer League (MMSL) Division 6 season last week.

Ian McIvor and Nick Plourde scored as the Cobras shutout Southside 2-0 in Winnipeg Tuesday night. The Cobras extended their lead atop the Division 6 standings to five points.

Portage (6-1-2) plays its next game Saturday against Saints James Spurs (5-3-0).

FUSION FALL

Also Tuesday night, Portage Fusion couldn't muster up any offence in a 1-0 loss to Matrix FC in MMSL Division 5 action at Rotary Republic Park.

"We had nine or 10 really good chances either saved or put just wide," said Fusion defender Glen McCulloch. "We were very unlucky not to come out of the game with a win. We saw lots of good things from the guys during the game."

Fusion (1-7-2) now enjoy some time off the field, and are set to return to action July 27 against Division 5 leading Carmania FC (8-1-0).
