The curling season officially wrapped up in Portage la Prairie last night.

The Portage Curling Club's Last Chance Bonspiel finished up Sunday afternoon, and the ice was removed immediately afterwards. Winkler's Team Klassen took home the 'A' Championship. Hank, Vic, Jarryd, Flash, and Jesse Klassen made up the championship team.

"It was a great weekend," says Hank Klassen. "They treated us real well here in Portage. The hotel was great, the food was great, the atmosphere is great. The ice was real good, there were a couple of tricky spots, but for the most part, it was real good. Had the whole family here, we enjoyed the pool. There's a good chance we'll be back."

Klassen says it was a big weekend for them because they officially retired his oldest brother Flash.

Kris McLean, Dan Messner, Marcel Gagnon, and Nice Messner of the Ste. Anne Curling Club took home the 'B' Championship.

"We started off a little slow Friday night but we really picked it up after that," says Marcel Gagnon, La Broquerie curler. "We just got on a roll. Three of us usually skip so putting three together was kind of a challenge but we glued together and played good the rest of the bonspiel."

"This is our second year here and it's always a good time," adds Gagnon. "It's a great way to end the season. Everyone is here to have a fun time."
