There's no shortage of action at the Portage Rotary Island Park Disc Golf Course today. That's because it's the second annual Portage Disc Golf Tournament, which runs throughout the day on Island Park. It's being organized by Cody Buhler, who says it promises to be a great day, and a chance to meet new people.

"I'm really looking forward to the day, it should be a lot of fun. I've been talking to different people from around the province. We've got guys from Winnipeg and Winkler all going in for the tournament. We're really looking to showcase our course here in Portage."

The day begins with registration starting at 8:30, with the first 18 holes beginning at 9:30. However, the action continues in the afternoon with a second set of 18. Buhler notes the disc, food and water, and a chance to win prizes are all included in your registration fee. He also notes it's open to all skill levels, as they have different categories for those with different experience. Overall he's hoping for a good turnout, noting it's a great chance to try something new.

"Really we're just hoping for a good turnout and some nice weather. It's a lot of fun having these tournaments, maybe just getting out and playing with some people you don't normally see on a regular basis. Looking forward to today and looking forward to seeing who takes home the top prize."

The tournament will go ahead rain or shine, and more details are on the Portage Disc Golf Facebook page.
