The Portage Terriers are in Winkler for MJHL hockey against the Flyers tonight.

The dogs won 2-1 over Neepawa Friday night, extending their win streak to 4. Portage is currently in 4th place, only 2 points back of the Flyers. Head Coach Blake Spiller says it's always important to get the win when it's this tight in the standings.

"If we want to stay in the thick of the top 4 or 5 teams in the league, we've got to win those games for sure."

The Terriers and Flyers are 1-1 this season, with Winkler taking the first meeting 9-3, and the Terriers taking the second 5-2 in Portage. Forward Calvin Bliid had 3 points (1G,2A) in their last meeting. He says their work ethic is what will lead them to victory.

"We're going to have to compete. That's the main thing that separates us other teams is our compete, and using our skill and speed. So I think with that we'll get the win"

Tonight's game starts at 7:30 in Winkler. You can catch the game on CFRY and Portage Online with the pre-game show starting at 7:20.
