Hockey Manitoba's Female Bantam Prospects Tournament is at the PCU Centre this weekend.

Midget Female Central Plains Capitals' Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen is helping run the tournament along with Central Plains' President John Ferg. Nelissen says there aren't any set teams for the tournament, as all graduating PeeWee -- and first year Bantam girls -- will be randomly divided into teams.

"They've had some practice skates, each region does skill development. Friday they come, go on for practices to meet their coaches, and then they play some games over the weekend."

Nelissen says the focus of the weekend isn't about winning and losing.

"There's no worry about winning, it's loading the lines and giving every body an opportunity to get involved with a Hockey Manitoba developmental opportunity."

He adds It's a great opportunity for the girls to get some feedback and help on the ice.

"It's more about what the girls can get out of it. Like being a part of something like this, having different coaches involved, challenge themselves and get to meet some new people as well."

The Showcase wraps up Sunday afternoon.
