Both Central Plains Capitals Midget Clubs are busy with exhibition play this weekend.

The Female Midget Capitals Showcase is all weekend at the PCU Centre. The Caps find themselves with 4 games, the first of which is tonight at 5 p.m. Caps' Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen wants his club in top shape for the season, especially with a lot of new faces on the team.

"We know we're young this year and we've got a lot of new players, so we're trying to get them to gel a little quicker than normal because the other teams have been together for quite a while. So it's a good builder for us this weekend."

The Caps and Interlake Lightning go at 5 at the PCU Centre. They've got two games tomorrow, one at 12:45 and the other at 6:45 p.m. The Female Midget Caps finish off their showcase Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The Midget Men's Caps are in Souris for the Southwest Cougars' Pre-Season Tournament. Midget Caps Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko says their regular season is right around the corner and they're heading into the tournament with hopes of fine tuning their systems. He adds they've recently picked up some new players, so this is the last chance for players to earn a spot.

"We're getting down to the short strokes here as the roster is due on in Tuesday. So we're trying to give everyone another few skates to show their wares. Basically lets see, with a little anxiety, how they react."

The Caps face Brandon tonight at 6 p.m. They've got Interlake tomorrow and Southwest on Sunday.
