The Allan Cup Canadian Men's Senior AAA Hockey Championship continues today in Steinbach.

Former Portage Terrier, and NHL'er, Arron Asham's in Manitoba for the tournament with the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts. Asham explains how he ended up back in Manitoba for the tournament.

"I'm just excited to be back on the ice. I played 18 games with the Gander Flyers in Newfoundland, and we got knocked out early in the playoffs. I was lucky enough to get picked up by the Cataracts to come and play for a National Championship. So it's definitely exciting."

Asham's excited to get back on the ice tonight in his home province.

"Yeah it's going to be nice to play in front of family and friends again. This will probably be my last tournament, and it would be nice to go out with a bang in front of family and friends and win this thing."

He says he still hasn't lost his competitive edge, an hopes to capture the National Championship with the Cataracts.

"When you're playing hockey, whether it's men's hockey or senior like this, it gets your competitive juices flowing. It's nice to get out there and be in a game that means something, and I'm definitely looking forward to this week in Steinbach."

Asham and the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts play their first game of the tournament tonight against South East at 8 p.m. Stoney Creek and Bentley go at 4.
