In Division 4 of the Manitoba Major Soccer League, the Portage Fusion lost 4-2 to FC Russia during today's game at republic park.

Coach Glenn McCulloch explains the ups and downs of the match.

"We were right in the game for probably 3/4 of the game. The heat and our fitness level kind of caught up with us, we've only played one game in the last month, we had a couple of rain-outs. So we haven't bee on the field as frequently as we should be and just got gassed at the end"

Sonny Bhupiendersingh scored the Fusion's first goal during the beginning half of the game and McCulloch scored the other part way through the second half of the match.

McCulloch says the team played well, despite the loss.

"Quite honestly it was a team effort today. We had everybody from our sub-players, our fringe players and only make it a few times a year, to our guys that were here consistently every game. Everybody played probably the best I've seen them play all year"

The Fusion will play their next game on September 5th against the Hanover Sting.
