Portage Collegiate's (PCI) strong play continued in the Zone 4 high school baseball league last night.

The PCI Trojans swept the Sanford Sabres in both games of a doubleheader at Rotary Republic Park. They won the first game 6-1, then dominated the Sabres 10-0 in the second.

"I thought we played well in all three phases of the game," says Jay Dewis, Trojans' head coach. "We had two good pitching performances from Brody and Joey Moffat, got some good swings on the ball, and we didn't make any errors. Overall, pretty pleased with these two games."

Brody Moffat started on the mound in game one. He gave up one run on two hits in four innings pitched and finished the game with five strikeouts. PCI did their scoring in the second and third innings, driving in six runs over the two innings.

"I felt like I was getting ahead of the counts early," says Brody Moffat. "It's always nice to go out there and have a defence like we do. I don't think we made an error out there and it's nice to have that confidence out there."

Matthew Tompkins came in to finish off the first game and picked up the save.

Joey Moffat pitched the first four innings of game two. He went gave up one hit while striking out nine Sabres.

They would add one more in the top of the fifth to finish off the game.

Portage is now 7-1 this season. They're heading to Altona this weekend for a tournament, their first game is Thursday.
