The Portage Collegiate Institute (PCI) Trojans varsity basketball team continued their recent hot streak.

The Trojans won their fourth straight game, beating the Shaftesbury Titans 74-61 in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier II varsity action Monday night in Winnipeg. The win vaulted the Trojans into a tie for second-place with Shaftesbury.

"This was a very big win for us to create and generate momentum," says Trojans coach Janey Bradford. "And hopefully we can keep learning. This is the first game in awhile where we've scored over 60 points. (That's) a huge positive and really timely for the point we're at in the season."

"Hopefully we can keep it up Wednesday against Grant Park."

The Trojans (4-2) host the (1-5) Grant Park Pirates Wednesday.

SAINTS FALL

The PCI varsity Saints were also on the road to face Shaftesbury Monday night but didn't fare as well as their colleagues. The Saints (3-3) fell 54-41 to Shaftesbury and currently sit sixth out of 12 teams in their division. They host St. Mary's Academy Flames Wednesday.

JV TEAMS UP TUESDAY

Both PCI's junior varsity clubs are on the road Tuesday night for WWAC Tier II basketball. The JV Saints and Trojans head to Stonewall to face the Rams, with the boys up first at 5 p.m., and the girls following at 6:30.
