It was another great Carnival put on by the Portage Skating Club.

The 'Hoedown Throwdown' featured over 100 skaters from in and around the Portage area.

"I thought it went very well," says 17-year-old skater Kailee Fraser. "I've done multiple carnivals in my past because I've been skating with the club for about 13 or 14 years, so this was exciting for my last one. I started coaching this year so I was to be able to help put (Carnival) together. I got to skate in it and I got to help organize it."

Kids of all ages hit the ice in different types of western style outfits, and there were even a few tumbleweeds and cacti.

"The costumes looked amazing," adds Fraser. "It was super fun and we tried to follow the country theme. The little ones were in their farm costumes and we were all in plaid."

"We had the western theme so we did a lot of line dancing," says 14-year-old Chanel Cabak. "The costumes were so cute! I got to dress up as a cactus for one of the groups and that was a lot of fun too."

The skaters all had a lot of fun and took a few extra minutes after the event had ended to take photos on the ice at Stride Place.
