The Portage Islanders are taking to the ice tonight at Stride Place when they face off with the Carman Beavers in the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League. The last time these two teams met it was the season-opener and the Islanders came away with a narrow 4-3 victory.

The Isles are coming off a big 7-2 victory over the Winkler Royals and have won their last two outings. Carman lost big their last time out, they fell 13-3 to Morden. Before that, the Beavers hadn't lost a game since their opener against Portage.

Portage forward Derek Brooks says they need to put together a full game in order to be successful against a talented Carman squad.

"Making sure we establish a good forecheck is important, they're a good team," says Brooks. "They push the puck up quickly so we need to be sure we're defending their attack properly."

Puck drop is set for 8:00 pm.
