The Portage Islanders fell 3-1 to the Notre Dame Hawks yesterday in South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League action. The Hawks currently lead the best of seven championship final series 3-2.

Islander Eric Delong says they played well overall but didn't make good on their chances. He shares the mindset going into game six.

"I think it's just continue, even though it might be hard, continue to stay to our game. We've been in every single game, obviously, and we've just got to make good on our chances. We have to improve our powerplay, it's one thing that I think we're definitely going to want to focus on, but other than that we're right there."

Islander Anders Strome notes they faced a similar situation in the semifinals against Carman.

"We faced the same situation in Carman, we were down 3-1. We don't want to come out playing too desperate but we have to play focused hockey and play the right way."

He notes he liked their effort in last night's game but they need to bear down more on their chances.

The Portage Islanders return to the ice today for game six in the best of seven series. Puck drop is at 7:45.
