The Portage Islanders are on the ice for South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League action in Morden tonight.

The Islanders sit in first place with a 4-0 record. Defenseman Dan McArthur says they're pleased with their start, but could still use some work in some areas.

"Having guys that have played together that have played together a little more after a first season under our belt has certainly helped the start for sure. It hasn't been 4 clean wins by any means, there's still some stuff we can tidy up in our defensive zone and things like that."

Portage has 20 goals for this season and have allowed the second-fewest goals against in the league at 9, while Morden's 3-1 with 15 goals for and 14 goals against. McArthur says the Redskins are usually a pretty strong team and expects nothing less tonight.

"They've beat Carman already this year -- who won the league last season -- so we can expect they'll be a tough team to face. They do have some high-end skill up front and we're just going to have to do the same things. Look after our defensive zone and the offense will come from there."

That game is set for 8 p.m. in Morden. Other games include Atlona at Stonewall and Notre Dame at Warren, both of those games start at 8 as well.
