The Portage Islanders' win streak extends to 7 games with Sunday's 5-nothing shutout win over Warren in the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League.

The Islanders outmatched the Mercs in every facet of the game, allowing minimal shots against through each period and dominating the time-on-attack. "We've got a good mixture of old guys that have a veteran presence around the league and some young guys with some speed and firepower," says goaltender Connor Nichol after picking up the shutout. "We're coming together and the guys are molding

Import player, and former Portage Terrier, Jordyn Boyd picked up two goals in the win over Warren. He's leading the club with 10 goals and 8 assists. He says they're not only bonding on the ice, but off it too, and it's really helped him settle in.

"It's a lot of fun. I know it's always fun getting points so coming out here and playing with my teammate from last year Waldvogel, we've got some speed so we can rip around a bit and have a lot of fun out there."
