The Portage Islanders are back in the win column after last night's game against the Stonewall Flyers.

The Islanders recently suffered seven straight losses in SEMHL action but broke the trend yesterday with a 9-4 win over Stonewall.

The Flyers opened the game with a goal early on but Portage fought back scoring three goals within the first period. Tyler Harland and Anders Strome scored a goal each for Portage midway though the second period giving the team a 5-1 lead going into the final. The first half of the third saw Portage put away another three goals before Stonewall's Jeremy Pachkowsky scored the second for the Flyers. Shortly after, Portage's final goal of the game was score by Jeremy Brooks. Stonewall would take two more goals before the game closed out 9-4.

The Islanders are back in action on Sunday when they host Altona.
